Lagos neighborhood with unreliable grid (4-6 hours daily power). Mixed residential + commercial loads (200 households + 50 small businesses). Needed solution resilient enough for tropical storms. Community couldn't afford expensive individual diesel generators. Microgrid model required regulatory approval.
Solution
Community-scale microgrid with smart meters for each household/business. Solar modules + battery sized for 80% self-sufficiency. Remaining 20% supplied from grid when available. Mobile payment system for metered service. JUSTSOLAR supplied complete system — modules, batteries, inverters, mounting, communication equipment.
Results
Delivered 18 hours of stable power per day on average vs previous 4-6 hours. Serves 200 households and 50 businesses. Average household savings: $40/month compared to previous generator-based power. Businesses reporting 30-40% revenue increase due to reliable power. Model being replicated in 3 additional Lagos neighborhoods.
